Stop Rising Damp,
Without Ripping Out Your Walls
muro Injection Cream C 80: a new damp proof course from a simple drill and a cartridge gun.
£24.99 per 600ml
Tide marks along the bottom of the wall. Peeling paint and crumbly plaster. A musty smell that never goes away. These are the classic signs of rising damp, where moisture from the ground soaks up through the bricks because the wall's damp proof course has failed or was never there.
The old fix meant cutting out bricks to fit a new membrane. Today, most damp is treated with an injection cream: you drill a line of holes, fill them with cream, and it soaks into the wall to form a new water-repellent barrier. No digging, no demolition, and most jobs are done in a day.
Why muro Injection Cream C 80?
muro C 80 is made by muro Bauprodukte GmbH, a German manufacturer of building chemicals and render systems. One Stop Render Supplies is muro's official UK distributor.
- 80% active ingredient: a strong, concentrated silane/siloxane formula
- Works in very wet walls, up to around 95% saturation
- No pump needed: just a drill and a standard 600ml cartridge gun
- Solvent-free and VOC-free, and clean up with water
- Goes a long way, with low consumption per metre
- Great on exposed brick and natural stone
- Follows the German WTA technical guideline for damp-proof injection
How It Works
The cream is injected into holes drilled along a mortar joint near the bottom of the wall. Over the following days it spreads through the masonry and lines the tiny pores that draw water upwards. Once it has cured, that band of wall repels water, and the damp can no longer rise above it.
How Far Does One Pack Go?
Allow roughly 0.1 litre per metre of wall for every 10 cm of wall thickness. As a guide, one 600ml pack treats approximately:
| Single brick wall (approx. 10 cm) | approx. 6 metres |
| Solid 9-inch wall (approx. 22.5 cm) | approx. 2.7 metres |
| Thick wall (approx. 33 cm) | approx. 1.8 metres |
Actual use depends on how absorbent and how wet the wall is.
How to Apply
- Remove damaged or salt-stained plaster from the treatment area, ideally up to about 1 metre high.
- Drill a row of holes in a mortar joint: about 20–30 cm above ground level outside, or at floor level inside.
- Use a 12–13 mm drill bit, space the holes about 12 cm apart, and drill to about 2 cm less than the wall's thickness.
- Blow or vacuum the dust out of each hole.
- Push the nozzle to the back of the hole and squeeze slowly as you pull out, so each hole is completely filled.
- Once the cream has soaked in, seal the holes with muro injection mortar.
- Replaster with a salt-resistant renovation plaster, not ordinary gypsum plaster, so salts left in the wall don't push through again.
Not suitable for aerated concrete blocks. Walls with large cavities or open cracks should be filled with injection mortar first. Wear gloves and eye protection. The cream can irritate skin.
